Jackrabbit basketball signs point guard for 2010-11
05/24/2010
The South Dakota State men’s basketball program added another player to its roster during the late signing period, when Colby Community College point guard Aireus Stephenson signed a National Letter of Intent, indicating his plans to enroll at SDSU and play on the Jackrabbit men’s basketball team. “We’re excited to add Aireus to our program, he’s a guy that really knows how to run a team and does an outstanding job of distributing the basketball,” SDSU head coach Scott Nagy said. “It’s very rare to get a junior college player with Aireus’ academic credentials, but it shows that he understands the importance of taking care of things on and off the floor. He’ll be a great addition to our team.” On the court, the Merrillville, Ind., native played in all 30 games and led the Trojans with 14.8 points per game and with 97 assists as a sophomore in 2009-10. He averaged 13.4 points per game and added 63 assists as a freshman in 2008-09. Off the court, Stephenson maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average as a pre-law/criminal justice major in both years at Colby, earning him a place on the 2010 All-Kanas Academic Team, membership in Phi Theta Kappa and numerous other academic honors.
